Our Chemical Testing Process

We conduct rigorous legal compliance testing across all our materials and finished products. These tests are designed to identify and eliminate any legally regulated hazardous chemicals of concern, ensuring that our shoes meet or exceed the highest safety standards.

What about PFCs and PFOAs?

• What are they?
  PFCs (perfluorinated chemicals) and PFOAs (perfluorooctanoic acids) are substances commonly found in waterproofing or water-resistant coatings. While they are not currently classified as legally regulated hazardous chemicals of concern in most jurisdictions, they are increasingly scrutinized due to their environmental and health impacts.
• Our current approach
  While not legally required, VIVOBAREFOOT has been proactively testing high-risk products and materials to identify and address the presence of PFCs and PFOAs.

Preparing for Future Regulations

Starting January 1st, 2025, California legislation will prohibit the manufacture, distribution, or sale of textile articles containing regulated PFCs or PFOAs. To prepare for this change and align with our commitment to sustainability:

1. Proactive testing: We have already begun voluntary chemical testing across all high-risk products and materials.
2. Collaboration with partners: We are actively working with our value chain partners to ensure the complete elimination of PFCs and PFAs across all our products, not just those sold in the US.
3. Global compliance: By January 1st, 2025, we aim to achieve total PFC and PFA elimination in all products we manufacture worldwide, going beyond regional requirements to create a safer, more sustainable product line.
